National Geographic selects Iran movie behind-the-scenes

National Geographic website has republished a cover photo themed on filmmaking in Iran.

National Geographic website has republished an archive photo used for the cover of its well-reputed magazine themed on filmmaking in Iran.

The photography section of National Geographic website selected a picture used in the July 1999 issue of its magazine that shows Iranian film director Bahram Beyzai, in green, shooting a movie.

“The actress in traditional Baluchi garb is Mozhdeh Shamsai, who is also married to Beyzai. A close-up of her appeared on the cover of this issue,” a caption for the photo reads.

The photo shows behind-the-scenes of Beyzai’s short film ‘Talking with the Wind’.

Bayzai is a critically and popularly acclaimed filmmaker, playwright, theatre director and screenwriter.

In 2001, he made his best-selling film ‘Killing Mad Dogs’, after which he staged three plays. The main theme of his works is the history and identity with reference to Iranian cultural and mythical symbols and paradigms.

National Geographic is the long-lived official monthly magazine of the National Geographic Society.
